In this assessment students inquire and design a scientific investigation looking into how chain length of alcohol affects the energy released during combustion. Students will then complete the experiment based on the method they have planned, and collect, process and evaluate the data and methodology to produce a written report.

This is a two-part assessment. In Part 1, students will research and create a written report summarising an electrical energy issue faced by one of the United Nations identified Least Developed Countries (LDC). Using specific knowledge of that country, students will discuss the best choice for an electrical energy system. In Part 2, students will present key information in an oral presentation about their LDC and be assessed on their communication skills.

In this assessment, students will design a pizza box to keep a delivery pizza hotter for longer. Using provided research sources linked in the task, they will then create a design-brief poster that summarises their design choice and describes and summarises the benefits and limitations of their design choices linked to different factors.
